Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat turned 75 on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda and several other leaders extended greetings, lauding his leadership in expanding the Sangh’s outreach across different sections of society, including minorities. Bhagwat has been serving as the Sarsanghchalak since 2009.
PM Modi, in his message, called Bhagwat a true embodiment of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and praised his tenure as one of the most transformative phases in the Sangh’s 100-year history. He wished him a long and healthy life.
Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted Bhagwat’s immense contribution to social service and youth character-building. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described him as a source of inspiration in nation-building and cultural preservation. BJP chief JP Nadda said that under his leadership, the RSS spread messages of service, dedication, and unity. Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde also conveyed his wishes.
Born into a family of RSS workers, Bhagwat rose through various roles before becoming chief. He has worked extensively across India and recently organized a three-day dialogue with minority communities. Known for his inclusive approach, Bhagwat has often stressed that “all Indians share the same DNA” and cautioned against divisive narratives like searching for “Shivlings under every mosque.”
