A domestic gas cylinder blast during cooking left three people injured in Krishna Colony under Transit Camp police station limits in Rudrapur. The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning when a woman was preparing food at home, causing panic in the residential area.
According to police, Gomti Devi was making rotis when she reportedly placed a hot pan near the gas pipe, leading to a leakage and subsequent explosion. The blast was powerful enough to collapse a portion of the house wall, indicating the intensity of the incident.
Gomti Devi, around 30 years old, her 10-year-old son Neeraj, and another individual sustained injuries in the accident. All three were initially taken to the district hospital and later referred to Sushila Tiwari Hospital for further treatment.
Station House Officer Mohan Chandra Pandey confirmed the incident and said that preliminary findings point to a gas leak triggered by unsafe handling during cooking.
Notably, this is the second such cylinder blast reported in the Transit Camp area within a week, raising concerns about household safety practices and the condition of small LPG cylinders in use. Authorities are expected to review awareness and safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
