The Uttarakhand government is finalizing preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, ensuring smooth pilgrim movement and essential facilities. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that all necessary arrangements are being put in place before the pilgrimage begins.
As per the schedule, the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri will open on April 30, Kedarnath on May 2, and Badrinath on May 4. To oversee arrangements, senior IAS officers have been assigned as nodal officers for each shrine:
- Kedarnath – Secretary Culture Yugal Kishore Pant
- Badrinath – Secretary R. Rajesh Kumar
- Gangotri – IAS B.V.R.C. Purushottam
- Yamunotri – IAS Neeraj Khairwal

Yugal Kishore Pant inspected the Kedarnath route via Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag, reviewing water, electricity, transport, and healthcare facilities. He also met local officials and priests at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath. Meanwhile, Neeraj Khairwal assessed preparations along the Yamunotri route and at Kharshali, the winter abode of Goddess Yamuna.
A review meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary, will be held in Dehradun on April 11 to finalize the Yatra’s readiness.
