Pilgrims visiting the Chardham Yatra will soon experience modern facilities at the main entry point, Haridwar. The government has initiated a comprehensive plan to establish an integrated facility similar to the Rishikesh Transit Camp, where all services—registration, accommodation, and travel arrangements—will be available in a single complex. The municipal administration has been directed to identify a suitable location, and work has already begun.
Under this initiative, the tourism department will acquire land from the municipal corporation to develop necessary infrastructure. The police and enforcement departments will also play a crucial role in implementation. Pilgrims will no longer need to travel to Rishikesh for registration, as all formalities will be completed in Haridwar itself. This move is expected to curb overcharging by private taxi operators. The RTO and tourism department will oversee the entire process.
Planned Facilities:
✔ Offline registration and token system
✔ Health check-ups, hospitals, and free medicines
✔ Air-conditioned halls, coolers, and fans
✔ TV, newspapers, and magazines for entertainment
✔ Dormitories for resting
✔ Bathing and toilet facilities
✔ Canteens serving pure vegetarian food
