SGRR University Students Lead Anti-Drug Awareness Rally in Dehradun

Dehradun – Students of Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) took out a massive anti-drug awareness rally on Friday, spreading the message of a drug-free society. The rally witnessed the participation of around 200 students and faculty members from the university, along with members of the Dehradun Bar Association, lawyers, social organizations, and local residents.

The rally was flagged off from the District Court premises by Justice Manoj Tiwari of Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital, and President of the Dehradun Bar Association, Manmohan Kandwal. It passed through Prince Chowk, Raja Road, Paltan Bazaar, and Ghantaghar before culminating at Gandhi Park. Students carried placards and raised slogans such as “Quit drugs, connect with life,” “Choose education, not intoxication,” and “Drug-free India is our mission,” drawing strong public attention along the route.

On this occasion, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, Hon’ble President of SGRR University, urged the youth to stay away from drugs, stating, “Addiction in any form darkens life. If the youth resolve, the dream of a drug-free society and a drug-free India can surely be achieved. Embrace education and health, and keep away from such evils.”

SGRR University Registrar Dr. Lokesh Gambhir highlighted the vital role of young people in this mission, saying, “If the youth consciously stay away from drugs, society will naturally become healthier and stronger.”

The rally echoed with powerful chants like “Say no to drugs,” with students pledging their commitment to building a drug-free future. The enthusiasm of the youth transformed the streets of Dehradun into a strong call for change, reinforcing the message: “Nasha chhodo, jeevan jodo.”
