Jammu-Kashmir Encounter: Lashkar Terrorists Killed in Shopian Gunfight

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir scored a significant victory on Tuesday by eliminating three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in a fierce encounter in the Shopian district. This comes shortly after the recent Pahalgam terror attack and marks another success following Operation Sindoor.

The encounter took place in the Shukroo Keller area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district during a joint search operation conducted by the Army and other security agencies. According to officials, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the area early in the morning. During the operation, a group of Lashkar terrorists was spotted, leading to a gunfight.

In the initial exchange of fire, one terrorist was neutralised. Shortly afterward, two more were gunned down, bringing the total to three. However, authorities confirmed that these terrorists were not directly linked to the Pahalgam attack.

Meanwhile, search operations continue to locate the Pakistani terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. Posters with their photos have been placed in various areas of Shopian, and a reward of ₹20 lakh has been announced for anyone providing information leading to their capture.

Two of the three wanted Pakistani terrorists have been identified, while the third is still being traced. Security agencies have intensified their operations across South Kashmir to prevent any further threats.
