SIT to Probe ₹3.18 Crore Scam in PM Poshan Scheme in Uttarakhand

A major financial scam has been uncovered in the PM Poshan scheme under the School Education Department in Dehradun, where government funds worth ₹3.18 crore were allegedly embezzled between 2023–24 and 2025–26. A departmental inquiry, led by the Additional Director of Education (Garhwal), confirmed large-scale financial irregularities and submitted a detailed report to the state government. Following the findings, the case has been handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further probe and strict action.

The inquiry revealed that a contractual employee working in the office of the District Education Officer (Basic), Dehradun, was directly involved in the illegal transfer of funds from PM Poshan accounts to various private accounts. Along with him, six DEOs (Basic) and finance and accounts officers have also come under the scanner for negligence. Officials are accused of allowing unauthorized online transfers without proper checks.

The state government has recommended disciplinary proceedings under the Uttarakhand Government Servant (Discipline and Appeal) Act against those found guilty. Education Minister stated that future financial and confidential tasks will only be assigned to permanent and responsible staff to prevent such incidents.
