Six Minors Rescued from Child Labour in Selakui Market, FIR Registered Against Shopkeepers

Dehradun: In a joint operation on Sunday, Labour Enforcement Officers Suresh Uniyal and Amit Thapliyal rescued six minors employed at various shops in Selakui market. The action was taken under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, with FIRs registered against six shopkeepers at Selakui Police Station.

The rescued children have been admitted to the Child Welfare Home in Kedarpuram. Sub-Inspector Anit Kumar has been assigned to investigate the cases.

The shopkeepers booked under the act are:

  1. Afzal – M Kamna Repairing Centre, Selakui
  2. K.P. Pundir – Pundir Provision Store, Selakui Bazar
  3. Prasanjit Mandal – Model Auto, Selakui
  4. Atar Singh – Pal Restaurant & Fast Food
  5. Anil Singh – Best Restaurant, Camp Road
  6. Virendra Singh Negi – Negi Simon Repairing, Selakui

Authorities have reiterated that employing minors is a serious offence and warned other establishments of strict legal action if found violating labour laws.
