Sonam Raghuvanshi: Brought to Shillong at Midnight for Medical Checkup

In a key development in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi was brought to Shillong around 1:30 AM under tight security. Meghalaya Police took her to the Sadar Police Station, where a mandatory medical checkup was conducted. Sonam, along with other accused Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi, will be presented in Shillong court today.

Meghalaya Police currently holds a three-day transit remand for Sonam. Following the court appearance, the police may take her to the crime scene in Sohra to recreate the sequence of events as part of the investigation.

Sonam was arrested in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. She was initially taken to the Phulwarisharif Police Station in Patna and later transported to Kolkata and Guwahati. She reached Guwahati Airport at around 10:45 PM on Tuesday, from where Meghalaya Police escorted her to Shillong under heavy security. The Shillong-Guwahati route, spanning nearly 100 km, was secured with significant police deployment.

So far, five people have been arrested in connection with Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder. He was killed during a honeymoon trip in Sohra, East Khasi Hills district. Raja and his wife had gone missing on 23 May, and his body was recovered from a gorge on 2 June. On 9 June, Sonam surrendered before police in Ghazipur, UP, ending a nationwide manhunt.

The murder, involving betrayal and planning, has shocked the country. The investigation continues to unravel the full extent of the conspiracy.
