CM Dhami Praises Uttarakhand’s Cultural Heritage at Sparsh Himalaya Mahotsav 2025

Dehradun: The closing ceremony of Sparsh Himalaya Mahotsav 2025 at Lekhak Gaon, Thano, turned into a celebration of Uttarakhand’s rich culture and creative spirit. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the event, offering prayers at the village temple and interacting with artists, writers, and locals.

On the state’s silver jubilee year, Dhami paid tribute to the activists of the Uttarakhand movement and said that Lekhak Gaon represents the ideas that connect people with their roots while inspiring future generations. He called the festival a symbol of new beginnings for literature, art, and culture in the state.

The Chief Minister said the government is actively promoting writers and artists through awards like Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman and Sahitya Bhushan. Financial grants are also being provided for publishing books in regional languages. “Our goal is to make Uttarakhand the leading cultural and literary hub of India,” he said.

He added that young people are being encouraged to take interest in literature through various programs and competitions. The Chief Minister also informed that President Droupadi Murmu recently addressed the special Assembly session for the state’s silver jubilee and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand on November 9, the State Foundation Day.

Dhami said Lekhak Gaon has given local talent a stage to showcase their work and is now helping Uttarakhand gain recognition on the global literary map. “It will continue to connect ancient traditions with modern thought,” he said.
