Uttarakhand STF has exposed a major racket involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit medicines of branded companies. Seven people, including the gang leader, have been arrested.
The latest arrest was of printing press owner Vijay Kumar Pandey from Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, who was supplying packaging material such as aluminum foil wrappers and QR codes for fake medicines. Earlier, STF had arrested five others — Santosh Kumar, Naveen Bansal, Aditya Kala, Devi Dayal Gupta, and Pankaj Sharma — for their roles in the operation.
Authorities revealed that the gang was producing duplicate packaging to pass off counterfeit drugs as genuine branded products, posing a serious risk to public health. Investigations are underway to trace the network’s supply chain and its market reach.
