Under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students in Uttarakhand will have the option to choose subjects of their interest along with multiple entry and exit opportunities in higher education. A task force meeting chaired by Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, where several key proposals were passed to implement NEP-2020 across institutions in the state.
Dr. Rawat stated that all educational institutions must prepare and implement courses under the National Credit Framework, ensuring students receive flexibility in their academic choices. He emphasized the introduction of technical and skill-oriented courses such as EV technology, IoT, system integration, data analysis, emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and new venture creation.
Alongside modern subjects, the curriculum will also integrate Indian knowledge traditions, including astrology, AYUSH sciences, yoga, Vastu, agriculture, forestry, and horticulture. The nodal Higher Education Department gave a presentation covering curriculum reforms, multidisciplinary options, skill development, digital initiatives, graded autonomy, multiple entry and exit, academic research, quality and training, academia-industry collaboration, and open distance learning.
