Haridwar – A government school teacher has been suspended after it was revealed that she submitted a fake medical certificate to secure a leave of absence. Following a complaint, District Education Officer (Elementary Education) Ashutosh Bhandari assigned the investigation to Vinod Kumar, Sub-District Education Officer of Bahadrabad, Haridwar. The inquiry confirmed the allegations, leading to the issuance of a suspension order against the teacher by the District Education Officer. A final investigation into the matter will be conducted by Bhagwanpur’s Sub-District Education Officer.
Sunita Rani, an assistant teacher stationed at the Government Primary School in Dhobighat, Bahadrabad, was previously assigned to the government primary schools in BHEL Sector 01 and Tantwala. She had applied for leave from November 4 to November 30, 2023, submitting two medical certificates as justification. However, allegations surfaced that the certificates were fraudulent. District Education Officer Ashutosh Bhandari handed the case to the Bahadrabad Sub-District Education Officer for investigation.

The inquiry found that the medical certificates presented by Rani were indeed suspicious. In her defense, she produced an undated, unsigned letter from the Chief Medical Officer of the Haridwar Community Health Center. Bahadrabad CHC’s medical officer, Dr. Anuj Sisodia, also confirmed the certificates were fraudulent.
In an RTI inquiry, the registration numbers on Rani’s certificates showed no record of issuance in her name, nor were any certificates registered under these numbers. Despite multiple opportunities to provide satisfactory explanations, Rani failed to present any valid evidence. Consequently, based on the findings and recommendations of the Sub-District Education Officer, District Education Officer Bhandari has suspended Sunita Rani, reassigning her to the Bahadrabad Sub-District Education Office for further administrative handling.
