In a major development surrounding the adulteration of ghee used in the prasadam (offering) laddus at the Tirupati Balaji Temple, a joint team from the Food Safety Departments (FSD) of Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh conducted a raid on a ghee manufacturing company in Bhagwanpur on Sunday. The ghee produced by this company was allegedly being supplied for use in the laddus offered at the famous Tirupati temple. During the raid, the team collected samples of the ghee and confiscated related documents for further investigation. The investigation is still ongoing, and the entry to the company premises has been restricted.
The controversy erupted when concerns were raised about adulteration in the ghee used for making laddus at the Tirupati Balaji Temple, with claims that the ghee contained animal fat. The matter stirred widespread discussions across the country, even reaching the attention of the Supreme Court. The investigation is being conducted at the highest level.
The investigation revealed that the ghee supplied to the temple was coming from this particular company in Bhagwanpur. As a result, a joint team of the Food Safety Departments from Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand carried out the raid. Samples of ghee, milk, and other products were collected from the company for testing.

Senior Food Safety Officer Yogendra Pandey stated that the investigation is ongoing. He confirmed that samples of ghee and other items were taken from the company, which has reportedly supplied over 70,000 kilograms of ghee to the temple so far.
