Dehradun Police have detained two Bangladeshi women who were living illegally in the city, with one of them arrested after authorities recovered forged Aadhaar and PAN cards issued under a fake Hindu identity. Police said the woman had crossed the border illegally during the Covid period and later assumed the identity of “Bhumi Sharma” by preparing false documents.

According to officials, the accused — originally Babli Khatun — entered India illegally during the pandemic. After arriving, she changed her identity to Bhumi Sharma, prepared forged documents, and even married a Hindu man in Dehradun to stay in the country illegally. Police have now registered a case under serious charges for using fake documents and staying in India without valid permission. Those who helped her obtain the forged documents are also under investigation.

The second woman, also from Bangladesh, crossed into India illegally in 2023 and was working as a labourer in Dehradun. She did not possess forged documents, but was living in India without authorization. As per Government of India procedures, she will be deported back to Bangladesh soon.
