Dehradun, 10 Oct: The Monsoon Session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, which had been convened earlier and was held in Gairsain for just two days on 19 and 20 August, has now been formally prorogued. An official notification to this effect was issued today.

During the two-day sitting of the House, several important legislative matters were taken up besides approval of the first Supplementary Budget for the current financial year. With the prorogation, all pending business before the House stands terminated until the next session is summoned.

It may be reminded here that, in the past few years, the assembly sessions have become increasingly shorter with hardly any session or sitting extending to the next week. The past few sessions held only two to three days of sitting at the most. Even the budget session did not get extended to the second week.
