Roorkee, 22 Oct: Uttarakhand has achieved remarkable success at the National Martial Arts Championship held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, securing the first position overall with an outstanding display of skill and determination. The finals were held on Diwali day. The championship witnessed the participation of nearly 1,500 players from Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The event was inaugurated by HapKiDo Martial Arts President Jitendra Singh, and contests were organised across multiple weight categories ranging from 12 kg to 100 kg.
Team Uttarakhand, represented by 60 participants, delivered an exemplary performance. Out of these, 45 players clinched Gold Medals, 10 secured Silver, and 5 earned Bronze, bringing pride to the state. The Uttarakhand (Roorkee) contingent emerged as the overall champion, followed by Delhi in second place and Haryana (Faridabad) in third.
Among the Gold Medal winners, Abhinav Saini triumphed in the 40 kg category by defeating a Faridabad opponent, while Trishna Saini claimed victory in the 45 kg category against a Haryana player. Varnika Giri and Vashu Pal also bagged Gold Medals in the 40 kg category by defeating players from Delhi. Avika Saini won the 40 kg category after overcoming a Faridabad contender. Parineeti in the 25 kg category, Deepanshi Naidu in the 35 kg category, and Aarush Riyaz in his respective category also emerged victorious. Other Gold Medal winners included Aakriti Yadav, Karan Yadav, Rishabh Chandel, and Rashi Chaudhary, all of whom contributed to Uttarakhand’s resounding success.
In the Silver Medal tally, Harpreet Singh secured second position after losing a tough contest with a Delhi NCR opponent in the 45 kg category. Dev Saini also claimed the Silver Medal by defeating a Delhi player in the 35 kg category, while Tamanna Saini secured second place in the 40 kg category after facing a Faridabad player. Aryan Pal also won a Silver Medal in the 45 kg category. In total, ten players from Uttarakhand earned Silver Medals.
Among the Bronze Medal winners, Dhairya Saini stood out by clinching third place in his category. Altogether, five players from the state secured Bronze Medals, further enhancing Uttarakhand’s overall performance.

At the closing ceremony, Uttarakhand Association Secretary Shivendra Kumar Chauhan congratulated the victorious players and extended best wishes for their future endeavours. He observed that this achievement would serve as a great morale booster for the upcoming International Martial Arts Championship scheduled for January. The victorious team was accorded a warm welcome and felicitated at several locations upon their return to the state. Quite significantly, all the medal-winning players have been selected to represent India at the forthcoming International Championship, where they will once again strive to bring glory to the nation.
