Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has claimed that transformer failure incidents in the state have reduced in the past three years. The corporation said the transformer damage rate, which was 5.75% in 2022–23, came down to 3.91% in 2024–25. By October 2025, this rate further reduced to 3.01%. UPCL also claimed that not a single power transformer failed in the last two years.

According to UPCL, this improvement is the result of new technology, better monitoring and timely maintenance. The use of the SCADA system, high-quality transformers and AB cables has reduced faults. UPCL says consumers are benefitting from fewer power cuts, more stable voltage and reduced tripping. The corporation also claimed that power interruptions in rural and hill areas have dropped compared to earlier years.
