To modernize the power distribution infrastructure, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has initiated the implementation of the Real Time Data Acquisition System (RT-DAS) across 215 substations under the RDSS scheme. This upgrade, guided by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Principal Secretary (Energy), targets regions with populations below 25,000.
So far, RT-DAS has been installed in 162 substations including Rani Pokhri, Jolly Grant, Nakot, Pantnagar, Gairsain, Chopta, Ukhimath, Askot, Agastyamuni, Roshanabad, Laltappad, Selaqui, Chiplaghat, Raiwala, and Chakisain. The remaining substations will be upgraded in phases over the coming months. Earlier, under the IPDS scheme, 106 substations in 66 cities were also equipped with RT-DAS, bringing the total number of high-tech UPCL substations to 268. In just the past 2–3 months, 36 substations have been modernized.
Real-Time Monitoring to Minimize Disruptions
According to UPCL’s Managing Director, the RT-DAS system enables real-time monitoring, which will help minimize electricity interruptions by detecting breaker tripping and ensuring timely maintenance. The system is linked to the National Power Portal and integrated with UPCL’s call center, allowing consumers to receive accurate updates on power outages.
