The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is conducting the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Preliminary Examination 2024 today across 1331 centers in all 75 districts of the state for the first time. The exam will be held in two sessions—General Studies from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and CSAT from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
A total of 5,76,154 candidates have applied for 220 vacancies. To prevent incidents of paper leaks, question papers are being transported in digital locker-equipped boxes. Each examination center is assigned a static and sector magistrate for strict supervision.
For the first time, iris scanning is being used to verify candidates’ identities. After verification, holograms will be affixed to admit cards. In Prayagraj alone, 21,504 candidates have registered to appear across 51 centers.
Strict measures are in place to curb malpractice. The Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, imposes penalties up to ₹1 crore and lifetime imprisonment for offenders. Candidates caught with cheating material will be barred from all future examinations.
