Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, alongside Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, presented appointment letters to 108 newly selected Assistant Professors at the Main Sevak Sadan, CM residence. The appointees, selected in subjects including Hindi, Chemistry, Geography, Zoology, and Political Science, received their appointment letters on Dhanteras.
Congratulating the newly appointed professors, CM Dhami expressed that this gift on Dhanteras symbolizes the light of knowledge and success. He commended the appointees for their dedication and emphasized the responsibility of teaching, especially in higher education, as it shapes human resources and directs young minds. Over the past three years, 18,500 youth in Uttarakhand have been provided with government jobs, with recruitment processes ongoing.
The CM highlighted efforts to make Uttarakhand a leading state by enhancing education infrastructure. This includes establishing 20 model colleges, building hostels and IT labs, and supporting students through monthly scholarships. Faculty are also being granted research funds of up to ₹18 lakh. Through the Gaurav Yojana, financial and banking training is provided to students, with a placement goal set for 5,000 students. Additionally, the state has agreements with the British Deputy High Commission for Chevening scholarships and with Infosys Springboard to provide modern computer-based courses in higher education institutions.
Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat noted that 100% faculty appointments in higher education have been achieved, with 82% as regular faculty and the remainder as guest faculty. He highlighted the establishment of 51 new college buildings over the last seven years, with more under construction. Under CM Dhami’s leadership, five new campuses and 26 new degree colleges have been established. Seventy of the state’s 118 degree colleges are now accredited by NAAC, with the goal to achieve 100% accreditation by March 2025.
The event was attended by Vice Chair of the Higher Education Development Committee Dr. Devendra Bhasin, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Pankaj Pandey, and Director of Higher Education Dr. Anju Agrawal, among others.
