CM Dhami Announces Model Ayush Villages and Wellness Centers to Promote Ayurveda

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the state will establish one Model Ayush Village in each district to promote Ayurveda, along with the development of new yoga and wellness centers. Speaking at an event in Old Rajpur, Dehradun, the CM launched a document highlighting the achievements of last year’s 10th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo, a coffee table book by the Ayush Department, and a poster for the Vigyan Bharati’s Science Student Manthan competition.

The CM emphasized that the documentation of the World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo will play a vital role in shaping future research, policy-making, and public health strategies in the Ayurveda sector. Through the event, India successfully sent a global message that Ayurveda can be a path to optimal health.

Commending Vigyan Bharati’s Science Student Manthan, Dhami noted that it fosters scientific curiosity, research-oriented thinking, and innovative capabilities among youth, encouraging them to become inquisitive, aware, and responsible citizens. He highlighted Uttarakhand’s historical legacy as a hub of Ayurveda and medicinal knowledge. National Organizing Secretary of Vigyan Bharati, Dr. Shiv Kumar, shared insights about the Congress.

The CM added that under the guidance and support of the Prime Minister, the state government has been consistently promoting Ayurveda. Currently, over 300 Ayushman Arogya Centers are operational in the state, with more than 70 specialists providing consultations via the e-Sanjeevani portal. Ayush hospitals with 50-bed and 10-bed facilities are being established in every district. The state has implemented an Ayush policy to promote medicine production, wellness services, education, research, and cultivation of medicinal plants. Plans include launching Ayush teleconsultation services and setting up 50 new yoga and wellness centers in the coming years.
