Uttarakhand Ayurveda University: Govt Halts VC and Registrar’s Salary

In response to the 26-day-long protest by teachers, doctors, and staff of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, the state government has taken decisive action. The salaries of Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, along with several other officials, have been withheld. Simultaneously, the government has sanctioned a budget of ₹13 crore to clear dues and salaries for university employees.

The government has also revoked departmental promotions that were previously granted through irregular procedures. Furthermore, several contractual staff members appointed during the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunil Joshi have been removed. Disciplinary action has also reached several professors posted at the university’s Rishikul and Gurukul campuses in Haridwar.

The move marks a significant administrative intervention following mounting unrest on campus and serious allegations of corruption and mismanagement. Employees had been demanding pending payments and accountability over irregular appointments and promotions.
