In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday, the Uttarakhand government approved six major proposals concerning agriculture, mining, environment, health education, and women and child development. These decisions aim to streamline infrastructure development and enhance administrative efficiency across key sectors.
One of the significant decisions involved the State Biotechnology Council. The cabinet approved regulations for operating 46 already-created posts across its two centers, ensuring smooth functioning of scientific and research operations.
Following High Court directives, the cabinet also approved the creation of 18 new posts in the Mining Department to strengthen enforcement and regulation within the sector.
In a major environmental move, the cabinet declared both sides of the Asan Barrage stretch — covering 53 kilometers of the Asan River — as a “Wetland Zone.” Earlier objections had been reviewed and addressed before finalizing this decision.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved crucial infrastructure development in the floodplain zones of Dehradun’s Rispana and Bindal rivers. The green light was given for construction of STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants), mobile towers, ropeway towers, and elevated roads in these areas to manage urban growth and mitigate environmental risks.
