Uttarakhand may soon see a cabinet expansion, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt hinting at the move. Currently, five ministerial posts are vacant — four for a long time and one after the resignation of former Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Aggarwal.
BJP legislators eager for ministerial positions are closely watching developments, as discussions on expansion gained pace after CM Dhami’s recent visit to New Delhi. Sources said he held talks with the central leadership on cabinet appointments. With the green signal from the top leadership, decisions could be announced soon.
Several names are being speculated for induction into the cabinet, including MLAs Khajan Das, Madan Kaushik, Pradeep Batra, Vinod Kandari, Bharat Chaudhary, Banshidhar Bhagat, Bishan Singh Chufal, and Ram Singh Kaida, among others.
Speaking on the issue, CM Dhami said discussions with the high command are underway, while state BJP chief Bhatt assured that the vacant seats will be filled soon.
