The Uttarakhand census process is set to begin with a self enumeration drive, where the Governor and Chief Minister will be the first to complete their details online. The Census Directorate has started preparations for the first phase of the Uttarakhand census, focusing on digital participation through an official portal.

According to officials, self enumeration will begin on April 10 across the state. On the same day, a dedicated team from the Directorate will assist VIPs, including the Governor, Chief Minister, ministers, and senior officials, in completing their self enumeration. This step is aimed at setting an example for citizens to participate in the Uttarakhand census process.

Although the first phase officially includes house listing and housing census work starting April 25, the online self enumeration facility will be activated 15 days earlier. Residents can log in to the portal and fill in their details by answering a set of questions.

The Directorate has already prepared enumerators for fieldwork. From April 25, these enumerators will visit households across the state to collect data. During their visits, they will assign house numbers and record related details. However, those who complete self enumeration online will not need to provide house number details separately.

Officials clarified that no documents are required for the Uttarakhand census. Citizens only need to answer 33 questions on the portal after logging in. If someone chooses not to participate in self enumeration, enumerators will collect the same information during their home visits. For those who complete the process online, the field staff will only verify the submitted details, saving time and effort.
