The first phase of the Uttarakhand Census has officially begun with the launch of the self enumeration process across the state. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) initiated the drive by completing his self enumeration, while Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is scheduled to participate later in the day.

Under this phase, residents can complete their self enumeration online by answering 33 simple questions through the official census portal. The facility will remain open from April 10 to April 25, allowing people to fill in their details from home.

According to the Census Directorate, once individuals complete the online process, they will receive a unique Self Enumeration (SE) ID. This ID must be shared with enumerators when they visit households. Using the SE ID, officials will access the submitted data, verify it on the spot, and complete the final entry in their system.

Director of Census Eva Ashish Srivastava said that enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits from April 25 to May 24 as part of the first phase. During these visits, they will also assign building and house numbers, which are not required to be filled during self enumeration.

The Uttarakhand Census process includes questions related to housing conditions, family details, and basic amenities. These cover construction materials of the house, number of rooms, ownership status, water and electricity sources, sanitation facilities, cooking fuel, and availability of assets like television, internet, vehicles, and mobile phones.

Officials clarified that no documents are required for the Uttarakhand Census. Citizens only need to answer the questions accurately on the portal. Those who do not complete self enumeration will be surveyed by enumerators during home visits.
