Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that the government will conduct detailed studies of Himalayan glaciers, including Gangotri, to strengthen disaster preparedness. The declaration was made during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Parade Ground, where he hoisted the national flag and honored families of freedom fighters.
The Chief Minister said that the Disaster Management Department will be further strengthened to ensure proactive and predictive measures against natural calamities. Expressing solidarity with families affected by the Dharali disaster and other calamity-hit regions, he assured that the state is working towards long-term disaster resilience.
In addition, CM Dhami announced the establishment of one Spiritual Economic Zone each in Garhwal and Kumaon to promote Ayurveda, naturopathy, yoga, and spiritual tourism. He emphasized that under the vision of a “Developed Uttarakhand,” the government is committed to making the state prosperous and self-reliant.
