Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday flagged off the promo run of the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run (Ultra Marathon) from the CM residence and unveiled its official logo. The marathon will be held on November 2, 2025, from Gunji village to mark the 25th foundation year of Uttarakhand. The event aims to boost adventure and winter tourism, promote a drug-free state, and encourage youth towards a healthier lifestyle. The ultra marathon will take place at altitudes ranging from 10,300 to 15,000 feet.

The Chief Minister said that the marathon will also support the Vibrant Village Programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for border area development. He added that beyond being a sporting event, the marathon will honor border residents, strengthen local identity, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities in homestays and tourism. It will also highlight Uttarakhand’s natural and cultural heritage at both national and international levels.

The promo run witnessed participation from children, youth, and people of all age groups across the state, concluding at the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council office. Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Garbyal announced that the top three winners of this 10 km run will secure a chance to participate in the Adi Kailash Marathon at Gunji, Pithoragarh on November 2, 2025. The marathon will feature five categories – 60 km (Ultra Run), 42 km (Full Marathon), 21 km (Half Marathon), 10 km Run, and 5 km Run – attracting athletes from across the country.

Following its success, the next marathon is scheduled for June 2026 in the Mana-Niti region. With a total prize pool of ₹50 lakh, the Vyasa and Niti Valley marathon aims to further strengthen Uttarakhand’s position as a hub for adventure sports and tourism.
