Dhami Government’s Crackdown on Corruption; Dozens of Officials Punished in 3 Years

Over the past three years, the Uttarakhand government under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken strong action against corruption, suspending or prosecuting dozens of officials. Several officers were sent to jail, reaffirming the government’s stance of zero tolerance on corruption.

CM Dhami has reiterated that his administration will continue to act tough on irregularities, irrespective of the rank or department of the officers involved. The state has seen a series of high-profile disciplinary actions against top bureaucrats and department heads.

Major Actions Taken Against Officials:

  • IAS Ramvilas Yadav: Suspended over allegations of amassing wealth disproportionate to income. Investigations are ongoing.
  • IFS Kishan Chand: Accused of misuse of office and unexplained assets; faced strict administrative action.
  • Harminder Singh Baveja (Director, Horticulture Department): Suspended due to corruption and financial irregularities in the department.
  • Amit Jain (Finance Controller, Ayurveda University): Disciplinary action taken for ignoring anti-corruption directives and violating financial protocols.
  • Bhupendra Kumar (Deputy GM, Finance, Transport Corporation): Suspended over bribery and financial misconduct; vigilance inquiry is underway.
  • Mahipal Singh (Revenue Officer): Caught red-handed taking bribes; booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
  • Ramdutt Mishra (Deputy Registrar, Stamp & Registration Department): Suspended due to irregularities in stamp duty and land registration processes.

This consistent administrative crackdown signals the Dhami government’s firm resolve to clean up the system and hold public servants accountable.
