Uttarakhand Hikes DA to 55% for State Employees and Pensioners

The Uttarakhand government has issued official orders approving a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees and pensioners. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave his nod to the proposal on Friday, and the increased DA will be applicable from January 1, 2025.

Earlier, employees and pensioners were receiving DA at a rate of 53% of their basic pay. As per the order signed by Additional Secretary Finance, Amita Joshi, the DA will now be paid at 55% per month. This benefit will apply to regular and full-time employees of the state government, aided educational and technical institutions, urban local bodies, work-charged staff, and UGC pay scale holders.

However, this DA hike does not automatically apply to High Court judges, the Chairman and members of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission, or employees of public enterprises. Their respective departments will issue separate orders.

The arrears for the revised DA from January 1 to April 30, 2025, will be paid in cash. From May 1, 2025, the revised DA will be included with monthly salaries. For employees under the contributory pension scheme, the applicable portion of the DA will be deposited into the New Pension Scheme accounts as both employee and employer contributions, with the remaining amount paid in cash.
