A seven-member central team will soon visit Uttarakhand to assess damages caused by recent disasters. Meanwhile, the state government, under the directions of Chief Secretary, has instructed all departments to submit loss estimates by 25 August for inclusion in a proposal to be sent to the Centre.
Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said the proposal is being prepared and will be forwarded to the central government. The team, headed by a Joint Secretary, includes officials such as Chief Engineer, Director, and Deputy Director. They will conduct field inspections in disaster-hit areas including Dharali, Syanachatti, Pauri, and Tharali.
The central team will carry out a Post-Disaster Need Assessment in coordination with the state disaster management department. Based on this evaluation, the Centre is expected to announce a financial package for Uttarakhand. Several departments have already submitted damage reports, while the remaining will finalize theirs before the proposal is sent.
