In a major relief for government employees, the Uttarakhand government has revised the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) rules, allowing officials and staff drawing up to ₹5400 grade pay to travel by air under LTC. The Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar has issued the official orders implementing the changes.
Until now, air travel under LTC was restricted to employees with higher grade pay. With this amendment, those earning up to ₹5400 grade pay can now avail air travel along with rail options. If not opting for air travel, they are eligible for first-class rail journeys—an upgrade from their earlier entitlement of second AC.
Additionally, the requirement of availing a minimum of 15 days of earned leave to claim LTC has been relaxed to just five days. This decision has been widely welcomed by employee associations, who have expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary, and the Finance Secretary for the progressive move.
Further improvements include an upgrade for fourth-grade employees, who can now travel in third AC coaches instead of the earlier sleeper class. Similar upgrades have been introduced for other categories, offering improved comfort and travel flexibility for government personnel.
