A major decision has been announced regarding temple regulations in Uttarakhand ahead of the Char Dham Yatra. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has proposed a ban on the entry of non-Sanatanis in all temples under its administration, including Badrinath Temple and Kedarnath Temple.

BKTC Chairman Hemant Dwivedi shared this information during a press briefing on preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage season. He stated that the decision was taken during a recent committee meeting, where several proposals, including the restriction on entry, were passed unanimously.

In addition to the entry restriction, the use of mobile phones will also be banned inside temple premises and sanctum areas. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is currently being prepared to implement these rules effectively during the yatra.

The issue has also drawn attention from the state government. Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, said that the government will review the proposal carefully. He added that a final decision will be taken after examining legal provisions, existing acts and traditional practices.
