Dehradun: The process for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand has commenced, with district-level training already underway. The goal is to complete training across all blocks by January 20, 2024. Senior IAS officer Shailesh Bagauli conducted a meeting with District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates, Chief Development Officers, and Sub-Divisional Magistrates to provide directives.
Key highlights of the UCC implementation plan:
- Training Logistics: Designated locations in districts will host training sessions for registrars and sub-registrars. Necessary equipment and facilities will be arranged at these centers.
- Collaboration with CSC SPV: The Common Service Centre Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC SPV) will assist in training officials to understand and implement UCC processes effectively.
- Technology Integration: A specialized application developed by the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) will ensure seamless execution of UCC procedures at all locations.
- Support Centers: Three support centers will be established to provide legal assistance to stakeholders during the training phase, coordinated by the Prosecution Department.
With this structured approach, the state is making rapid progress toward becoming the first in the country to implement UCC.
