Dehradun: Uttarakhand has recorded a significant improvement in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection. In August 2025, the state registered a 17 percent growth compared to last year, collecting ₹816.88 crore against ₹696.58 crore in August 2024 — an increase of ₹120 crore.
With this growth, Uttarakhand has secured a position among the top ten states in GST collection performance at the national level, where the overall increase was 9 percent. The state has outperformed several larger states, ranking behind Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Gujarat.
Currently, 2.10 lakh traders and firms are registered under GST in Uttarakhand. According to State Tax Commissioner Sonika, strict monitoring measures are being enforced to curb tax evasion. State and district-level teams have been tasked with identifying and taking action against GST evaders.
Officials also expect collections to rise further during the festive season in September and October, as trade and consumer spending increase.
