For the first time, Uttarakhand will establish a Health Emergency Operations Centre to improve disaster-time medical management and monitoring. The Union Health Ministry has approved the project under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and will provide financial assistance for its operation.
The centre will enhance the state’s preparedness and response capacity during health emergencies. The ministry has sanctioned nine contractual posts, including senior public health advisor, public health advisor, data analyst, hub engineer, and data entry operator. The state has been asked to expedite appointments, while a separate bank account will be opened for financial assistance.
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar confirmed that recruitment will begin soon in line with ministry guidelines. He said the centre will ensure timely response and coordination in emergencies, benefiting the public.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed the approval, calling it a significant step for strengthening Uttarakhand’s health disaster management. He said the initiative, supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, will allow faster and coordinated action in crises.
