Heavy Rain Alert in Uttarakhand Till June 26, Districts Put on High Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of Uttarakhand between June 22 and June 26, prompting the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) to issue an advisory to district administrations for heightened preparedness.

Districts likely to be affected include Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri, and Champawat, where isolated incidents of very heavy rainfall are expected. An orange alert has been issued for specific areas in Dehradun and Nainital, while a yellow alert is in place for Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Almora, and Bageshwar districts.

In view of the alert, the SEOC under the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) has sent precautionary instructions to district magistrates. Appointed IRS officials and departmental nodal officers have been asked to remain on alert. Local officials, including revenue sub-inspectors, village development officers, and panchayat officials, must remain in their assigned areas during this period.

Sensitive landslide-prone routes must be equipped with necessary machinery in advance. Movement in such areas should be strictly regulated with safety protocols in place. Additionally, strong winds with speeds reaching 40–50 km/h are expected across parts of the state.

According to the extended forecast, heavy rainfall activity may continue across Uttarakhand until June 28.
