The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in several hill districts of Uttarakhand. According to the forecast, areas in Dehradun, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Nainital are expected to witness very heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy showers in other districts. On August 25, heavy rainfall is likely to continue in the hill regions under the orange alert, while widespread rainfall is expected across the state until August 27.
In view of the weather warning, the District Magistrate of Chamoli has ordered the closure of schools from Class 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centers on Monday.
