The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in multiple districts of Uttarakhand. As predicted, several regions including Dehradun are witnessing rainfall on Friday, with overcast skies in many areas of the state’s hilly regions.
According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre, heavy rain is likely in parts of Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, and Nainital districts. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas.
In addition, other districts may also experience spells of intense rain accompanied by lightning and thunder. The department has predicted light to moderate rainfall across Uttarakhand till August 13.

- Kalsi (Dehradun): 103 mm
- Bageshwar: 42.5 mm
- Chamoli: 25.5 mm
- Rudraprayag: 14.5 mm
Authorities have urged residents, especially in vulnerable hilly regions, to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel due to the risk of landslides and road blockages.
