An intense spell of rain is forecasted for Sunday and Monday in several districts of Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in parts of Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, and Pauri districts.
A yellow alert has also been issued for isolated heavy rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Almora. Thunderstorms and winds with speeds of 40–50 km/h are expected in these regions. Authorities have also warned of continued heavy rain over the coming days.
Due to rain-triggered landslides and debris flow, 39 roads have been blocked across the state—34 of them in rural areas. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, work is underway to clear and reopen these roads.
