Uttarakhand Panchayat Bypolls on November 20; Over 33,000 Gram Panchayat Seats Vacant

Uttarakhand: The State Election Commission has announced by-elections for vacant posts in Uttarakhand’s three-tier panchayats, excluding Haridwar district. Voting will be held on November 20 to fill these vacancies. The official notification was issued on Tuesday. A total of 33,114 gram panchayat seats are vacant across the state, and after the elections, 4,843 gram panchayats will be reconstituted.

According to State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar, nomination forms for gram panchayat members, gram pradhans, and kshetra panchayat members will be available at block headquarters, while district panchayat member forms can be collected from district headquarters between November 11 and 13. Nomination submissions will take place on November 13 and 14.

Voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 20. The vacancies include 33,114 gram panchayat members, 22 gram pradhans, one district panchayat member, and two kshetra panchayat members.

In a virtual meeting with chief development officers and district panchayat officials, the State Election Commissioner instructed authorities to ensure timely arrangements for polling parties and adequate public awareness about the nomination process.
