Panchayat Election 2025: Notification Released, Code of Conduct from Today

The Uttarakhand State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections, with the official notification issued today. The model code of conduct has come into effect across the state.

As per the commission, reservation for panchayat posts was finalized on June 19. The Panchayati Raj Secretary issued the official notification, and now district-level notifications will follow on June 23. The nomination process will run from June 25 to June 28, between 8 AM and 4 PM daily. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from June 29 to July 1, with July 2 designated as the last date for withdrawal.

The elections will be conducted in two phases. Symbol allocation for the first phase is scheduled for July 3, with voting to take place on July 10. The second phase symbols will be allotted on July 8, and voting will be held on July 15. Counting for all phases will take place on July 19.

Polling will occur in 12 districts (excluding Haridwar) for the posts of Gram Pradhan, Ward Members, Block Panchayat Members, and District Panchayat Members. Over 10,000 polling booths will be set up, with an average of 750 voters per booth.

The commission has instructed all officials to ensure fair and smooth elections. Remote blocks will be covered in the first phase to minimize monsoon disruption. Disaster management officials have been directed to ensure readiness based on weather conditions.

66,000+ Positions, 4.5 Lakh First-Time Voters

This election will cover over 66,000 posts, with 4,56,793 new voters participating—a 10.5% rise from the previous election. Around 95,000 personnel, including 35,700 security staff, will be deployed. A fleet of 5,600 vehicles will assist with logistics. A total of 55 general observers and 12 reserve observers will monitor the process, with district officials tasked with expenditure tracking.
