Uttarakhand Panchayat Polls Phase 2: Over 58% Voter Turnout Recorded by 4 PM

In the second phase of the three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand, polling was held across 40 development blocks on Monday. By 4 PM, the voter turnout had reached 58.12%, reflecting active public participation in grassroots democracy.

Voting began at 8 AM and continued smoothly throughout the day. A total of 21.57 lakh registered voters are eligible to decide the fate of 14,751 candidates contesting for 5,033 posts across various panchayat bodies. The counting of votes will take place on July 31.

The second phase witnessed polling for positions such as Gram Pradhan, Gram Panchayat members, Block Development Committee members, and Zila Panchayat members. The state election commission had made elaborate arrangements to ensure free and fair polling across all blocks.
