In the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand, the State Election Commission is set to enforce strict monitoring of candidates’ election expenses. The Commission has finalized preparations, including the printing of ballot papers for all districts.
Following the model used in municipal elections, the Commission will deploy district-wise observers to track and verify candidate spending. In previous elections, candidates were required to submit detailed expense reports, and those who failed to comply are currently facing action from the Commission.
Officials stated that this time, observers will again be deployed, and expense reports will be verified at the district level. With the expenditure limits increased for candidates ranging from Gram Pradhan to Zila Panchayat Chairperson, all candidates are expected to stay within the revised limits.
