Over 11,000 Nominations Filed by Day Two as Process Gains Momentum

The nomination process for the Uttarakhand three-tier panchayat elections picked up significant pace on the second day, with the total number of nominations surpassing 11,000. On Thursday alone, 9,280 nomination papers were filed across 12 districts of the state, taking the cumulative total to 11,444. On the first day, 2,164 nominations had been submitted.

According to data from the State Election Commission, the highest number of nominations were filed for the Gram Pradhan (village head) positions. Out of 7,499 available seats, 6,351 candidates have submitted their nomination forms so far.

For the 55,587 Gram Panchayat Member posts, 1,968 nominations have been received. Similarly, 2,777 nominations were filed for 2,974 Member Block Panchayat positions, and 348 nominations were submitted for 358 Member District Panchayat seats.
