Uttarakhand Increases Ex-Gratia for Param Vir Chakra Awardees to ₹1.5 Crore

On the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a significant increase in the ex-gratia amount for Param Vir Chakra recipients from Uttarakhand. The state government will now provide ₹1.5 crore to each awardee, up from the current ₹50 lakh. The annual grant of ₹3 lakh will continue as before.

CM Dhami stated that prior to June 2022, Param Vir Chakra awardees were given ₹30 lakh. The amount was revised to ₹50 lakh through a Cabinet decision on June 10, 2022, followed by an official government order on July 14, 2022. With the latest revision, the one-time financial assistance has now been tripled from its 2022 level.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami emphasized that the nation’s borders remain secure due to the courage, valor, and sacrifice of its brave soldiers. He said that every citizen should honor and recognize this service. “Uttarakhand is not only the land of gods but also the land of the brave, having given many gallant soldiers to the country,” the Chief Minister added.

He further assured that the state remains committed to the welfare of soldiers and their families, continuing to take strong and meaningful steps in their interest.
