Dehradun: A case has been registered against a policeman and his associate for allegedly duping a man of ₹15.21 lakh by promising a government job for his son. Despite repeated complaints to the police, no action was initially taken, and the case was lodged only after a court order.
Complainant Vinod Kumar, a resident of Kunj Vihar, Kargi Chowk, who works in the education department, stated that he met Sub-Inspector Manohar Gusain, resident of Kedarpuram, Nehru Colony, in 2022. Gusain introduced him to his associate, Dhirendra Chauhan of Sainik Colony, Kehri village, at an office on Rajpur Road.
The two allegedly promised a government job for Kumar’s elder son, Sumit Kumar, and over time took ₹15.21 lakh between 2022 and 2023. The complainant said he arranged the money by taking a bank loan, which he is still repaying.
According to the complaint, the accused failed to secure the promised job and kept delaying repayment. They also allegedly sent forged appointment letters from government departments to mislead the victim. Despite filing written complaints with Patel Nagar police station and the SSP on January 3 and July 19, no FIR was registered.
