For the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand, shadow areas lacking telecom connectivity will receive election-related information via police wireless systems and satellite phones. State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar held a virtual meeting on Tuesday with all nodal officers from departments including PWD, health, transport, police, administration, and disaster management.
He instructed that all departmental control rooms must function 24×7 during the election period and respond immediately to any incoming updates or incidents. Teams must be ready to resolve issues without delay.
Kumar emphasized that if roads are blocked during polling, the concerned departments, including PWD, must clear them quickly to restore movement. He directed officials to ensure that all polling teams reach their destinations on time and maintain effective communication systems in remote areas.
District magistrates and observers have also been asked to monitor weather patterns, road conditions, and any disaster-related situations. Secretary of the Election Commission, Rahul Goyal, stated that all election teams and officers are on high alert to ensure the safe movement and successful conduct of polling operations.
