The Uttarakhand government has proposed ₹864 crore for sports infrastructure and athlete development in the 2025-26 financial year, double the budget allocated for the 38th National Games. The increased funding will be utilized for the construction of a sports university, a women’s sports college, and multiple sports academies across the state.
For the 38th National Games, Uttarakhand had received ₹532 crore, which was used to develop 11 sports venues and procure international-standard sports equipment, including imports from the USA and Europe for 16 sports. Now, the government aims to strengthen the state’s sports ecosystem by investing in modern training facilities and infrastructure to support athletes.
